I tried fl a few times and it just seemed like it was a pain in the ass to use. I use it to record wave samples and put them on my esx. I guess im still in my free trial period. It sequences externally as well but rare as hen's teeth.

Was and still am up all night getting lost in my Quasimidi Polymorph. Many of these new modern things coming out do not even all externally send midi out to seq external multi channels or single, but a nice older groove box like any listed above are great paired with synth rack units, less space, and with a thru merge box, the midi latency would be very low. Just because something is older from the late 90's to early 2000's, it does not mean they are crap. If you have an iPad, even an older one as I do, iPad 2, there's Korg Gadget App, other Apps with great sequencing externally but also some incredible apps like Waldorf Nave and new Waldorf iAttack, a complete drum synthesis engine with xoxo grid sequencing. The new Korg Electribe 2 seems to be interesting, 16 channels of external midi sequencing external gear, the King Korg synthesis engine lives inside, integrates with Live, if you use that, new $399. On a longer $aving Plan, there's used Radikal Technologies Spectralis 1 and Spectralis 2 (both same synth/filter banks/and 3 completely different sequencer engines, analog hybrid, sample import, as far as capabilities eve at the OS currently 1.5, it blows the Elektron sequencer because the amount of tracks, multiple time signatures, forward, backward, ratcheting, probability and random generators stuff even my Sub 37 does, and have seen used Spectralis 1 for low as $900. Large price difference not to confuse and make it seem like the RM1X is not good or anything, quite a capable and intuitive beastie. Prices commonly on ebay for RM1X within $250. It's big brother is the RS7000 and is even more capable with -2- midi out/32 external sequencing, but the sounds and synthesis options within it are nothing to sneeze at, plus you can import samples with smart media card. A very powerful groovebox that even if you did not like all the extensive sounds and synthesis/ReSynthesis on, the Yamaha RM1X also will sequence external instruments, 16 tracks/channels, as well.
